We have just wrapped up a new course ‘Food is the Hero’ for Tortilla, a UK based independent California burrito company.
They came to us to help train their staff to provide a fluid experience across service and product quality which was the same throughout all the restaurants. A key requirement was to keep the training fun and interesting but still highlight the important messages they were trying to incorporate.
We met with them and discussed some fantastic ideas as well as how to bring the activities to life via an outline plan and script. We knew we wanted to capture the real Tortilla experience, so headed off to their Cardiff location to film the action.
Martyn Clover, Food Quality Manager of Tortilla, was onsite with us and it was a great session, thinking on our feet and making the most of the opportunity. He mentioned later, “Upskill People knew our sector inside out. They got what we needed to say – why food quality is important, not just telling people what to do. At the end of the day, that’s what makes the difference to our teams.”
What is most exciting about this course is we used our new ‘Easy Course Builder’ to pull it together. This allows Tortilla to easily make amends to the content themselves to keep it consistent, interesting and up to date, without having to rely on us which keeps costs down and content relevant year after year.
Katy Stenning, Head of HR at Tortilla, commented, “Upskill People made it ever-so-easy for us. They immediately understood what was important to us – great quality food – but they also got the way our employees think and learn. The course communicates everything really well. What’s more, they kept on brand whilst creating a great, engaging course for our new starters and in house teams.”
